Everyday Elise enjoys celebrating the wide variety of clarinets that evolved through its history and the trouble it gets itself into. For almost two decades, Elise has been playing, studying, making, restoring, and repairing clarinets, chalumeaux, and basset horns. She studied modern clarinet, historical clarinet, and instrument making at Indiana University, instrument repair at Renton Tech in Seattle, and continued to make and perform by studying at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. Through the American Musical Instrument Society and other associations, she has been able to study clarinet collections closely in private as well as museum collections around the world. Elise has a diverse collection of over 100 clarinets of her own. This season, Elise can be heard playing from coast to coast in groups such as the Oregon Bach Festival, Philharmonie Austin, Teatro Nuovo in New York as well as many other wonderful groups in between. Although originally from the Northern Virginia area, Elise now resides outside of Manhattan in New Jersey.
